The first time I heard his sound, I had a smile on my face and vibration in my gut. His magic connected me to the rhythm as I continued to smile. Coincidentally, I wrote this before I interviewed him on the phone and one of the last things he said to me was, “I like my music to take people somewhere, leave them inspired… make people smile”. He certainly achieved his goal!
Reda Briki is the Resident DJ for Disorient, a sound camp for Burning Man and around the world. He is playing next Friday, February 4, 2011 at Love That Fever’s “Gold & Glitter” Party at Rebel in NYC. Reda has a French-Algerian background which deeply connects him to the drums. He is very unique in the way he puts together exotic drums from places like Egypt and Algeria with the horns of Miles Davis and strings of George Benson.
Reda loves to travel and discover new music, along with playing and delivering a positive message world-wide. Reda has played at Burning Man, and in places such as Monaco , LA, and is even going to be playing in Egypt at the Transahara Festival this year! He says his favorite places that he has played was San Francisco , Argentina and of course the NY community.
Reda believes and succeeds in the fact that music should inspire people; move them emotionally by telling a story. Without people on the dance floor, he wouldn’t be able to play. “The people are my music”, says Reda. As I type this I am listening to his newest track “Love That Fever” and literally dancing in my seat. Hopefully he will be playing it next Friday!
There are some musicians who studied for years and may be logistically correct in their sound but do nothing for your soul. There are some who are so talented that they take you to another place and that is Reda Briki. So, come warm up, forget about your problems and get ready to get moved (literally) at the Gold and Glitter party next Friday presented by Love That Fever. For more events check out:
